The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a native doctor and the father of 26-year-old Chikwado Eze, who tragically died during a botched ritual in Ugbaike, Enugu Ezike, last week.
Chikwado had just secured a visa to travel abroad and returned to his village to share the news with his father, Mr. Uwakwe Eze. However, Uwakwe insisted on performing a fortification ritual to ensure his son’s success overseas, leading them to native doctor Enuwa Odugu.
Reports indicate that the native doctor claimed Chikwado needed to be buried alive for 1 hour and 30 minutes as part of the ritual.
Unfortunately, when Chikwado was exhumed after the specified time, he was found dead. Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Daniel Ndukwe confirmed the arrests in a statement issued late Tuesday night, highlighting the serious nature of the incident.
