Xilolo Review: Finally, a Way to Get Paid for the Crowd You Already Have

Date:

Share:

A platform that lets you sell tickets to a live show and stream it to everyone who could never make it to the venue.

Every creator knows this pain. You post something good, fifty thousand people watch it, your phone refuses to sit still, people share to group chats where it collects emojis and a “God bless your hustle.” Then the month ends and your account balance looks at you the way a landlord looks at a tenant with a long story.

Xilolo is built for exactly that gap. You create an event, set a ticket price, people pay to watch you live, and the recording can be sold again afterwards as a replay. The pitch on the homepage is six words: go live, look premium, reach everywhere.

Payments accept local currency and mobile money, which removes the number one reason Nigerian fans abandon a checkout page halfway.

The streaming itself

The core is low-latency HD streaming, and the important detail is that it is tuned for varying African internet speeds rather than assuming everybody is on fibre. Anyone who has watched a stream start buffering at the exact moment the artist walked on stage will understand why this matters more than any other feature on the list.

You create the event, the app generates your stream details and keeps them organised, and you go live. Three steps to get started: register, verify, stream.

Ticketing and how you get paid

This is the heart of the product. It works pay-per-view, you set the ticket price and charge per viewer.

Payments run through Stripe and Paystack, with local currency and mobile payment support. That single decision removes the number one reason Nigerian fans abandon a checkout page halfway.

Keeping the show from leaking

Ticketed access is gated, so the link cannot be freely passed around. It will stop casual sharing. It will not stop a determined uncle with a second phone, and no platform in history has solved that one.

Engagement while you are live

Live chat, reactions and polls. Small features, big difference. A paid stream where the host reads your name out loud stops feeling like a video and starts feeling like a room.

Replays, which most people underrate

You can schedule replays after the event and post highlight clips to share elsewhere. This is the feature I would build a strategy around. Your fan in Port Harcourt could not travel. Your aunt in Houston wanted the show but not the 2am start. Your cousin’s data finished by nine. A replay turns one night into something you can sell twice.

Analytics and promotion

You get creator analytics covering viewers, revenue and where attention dropped, plus promotion tools and one dashboard to track results. This quietly changes how you negotiate, because most creators are still pricing brand deals with vibes and a screenshot.

Discovery, education and AI

The platform has a public discovery surface for live events, creators and tickets, so you are not entirely dependent on your own promotion. It also leans into education, not just entertainment.

Xilolo has correctly identified the most expensive problem in the creator economy: we built our audiences on land we do not own, and nobody ever installed a gate. It built the gate, and the gate works.

It is charging landlord prices while still wearing beta clothes, and it should publish that 40% where people can see it. But if you have an audience and no way to charge them, this is the most direct route from attention to actual money.

Use it with your calculator open. And stop letting anybody tell you your reach is the same thing as your income, because reach has never once paid rent.
