Tragedy struck in the Oke Aro area of Akure, near the Dele Bread axis, as a nursing mother reportedly d!ed while breastfeeding her baby.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman, said to be a yam seller, was seen earlier in the morning exchanging greetings with neighbours before sitting down to breastfeed her child.

“She suddenly began to complain of weakness and tiredness. In an attempt to regain her strength, she drank a bottle of Coca-Cola but collapsed and d!ed on the spot,” an eyewitness told Ondo Govt newspaper, The Hope on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

Some sympathisers at the scene suggested that her d3ath might be linked to malnutrition or inadequate feeding, as she was believed not to have been eating properly.

She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but medical personnel on duty confirmed that she was brought in d3ad.

Her husband, a commercial driver, was said to have been contacted but had not returned home as of the time of filing this report, having left earlier for his daily transportation business.

Sympathisers trooped to the family’s residence, describing the deceased as calm, friendly, and hardworking.
