Media personality Osi Suave has slammed former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad over his past public support for the death penalty for blasphemy in Nigeria, accusing him of hypocrisy after Ahmad called for better media representation for the northern region.

Ahmad, who served as an aide to former President Muhammadu Buhari, had posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the media plays a vital role in shaping narratives, perceptions, and public opinion, adding that the northern region has been “underrepresented and misrepresented” in global discourse. He urged the development of strong, professional, and well-funded media institutions that could “tell the northern story accurately and defend its interests.”

In response, Osi Suave blasted Ahmad for what he described as selective concern about narratives, reminding him of his 2015 tweet in which he openly declared support for the death penalty for blasphemy and opposed the campaign to save nine people sentenced to death in Kano for alleged blasphemy.

“It’s on record that as an aide to the former now, late President Buhari, you openly advocated for the death penalty for blasphemy. Clowns like yourself are the springboard for these narratives and perceptions,” Osi wrote.

In another post, Osi expressed disbelief that Ahmad had never deleted the old tweet, calling it “abhorrent.” “It’s utterly wild that this macaque has refused to delete this abhorrent tweet,” he added.

Ahmad’s resurfaced tweet from July 2015 read “I can’t pretend or keep silent. I support the death penalty for blasphemy. That’s my belief and I do not and will never support #SaveKanoNine.”

The online exchange comes amid renewed tension following U.S. President Donald Trump’s reported warning about Nigeria’s handling of Christian persecution and blasphemy-related killings.
