The lawmaker representing Sokoto South Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, Aminu Tambuwal, has withdrawn from the race.

In his place, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Faruk Yabo, has been endorsed as a consensus candidate by the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

DAILY POST recalls that Tambuwal was a presidential aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2023 general elections but stepped down for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Similarly, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, the former Deputy Governor under Tambuwal during his tenure as Sokoto State Governor, has emerged as the ADC consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election in the state.
