Why Davido Needs to Livestream Oriadé Tour on Xilolo – G.U Abraham

Davido just dropped Oriadé, his sixth studio album. At 13 tracks, it’s his most concise work yet, reflecting on 15 years at the top. The music is hitting tracks like “Already Falling” are already on repeat and the global tour announcement was inevitable.

There’s just one tiny problem, about 70% of us reading this will only ever see this tour through 15-second, shaky WhatsApp status updates uploaded by someone in the VIP section.

One brave fan and Visionary Tech Founder – G.U Abraham recently tossed a blunt pitch into the internet that Davido should livestream the Oriadé tour on Xilolo’ . Xilolo is a live-streaming platform that allows creators and event organizers to ticket and monetize pay-per-view broadcasts directly with built-in content protection.

It’s an aggressive proposal, but the logic actually holds up surprisingly well. Here is a breakdown of why the pitch makes sense, where it hits a wall and why OBO might want to take notes.

The Pitch: “If We Can’t Come to the Arena, Bring the Arena to Us” – G.U Abraham

Between the current price of fuel, ticket inflation and the sheer sports-level endurance required to survive a Lagos crowd, attending an arena show isn’t in everyone’s budget or mental health plan.

G.U Abraham solution? Stream the show live on xilolo platform (the pitch specifically named Xilolo, a creator streaming app), disable screen recording and let fans pay a modest access fee.

To counter the immediate pushback—“If it’s streaming, nobody will buy venue tickets!” G.U Abraham pointed to The Experience, House on the Rock’s massive annual gospel concert. The Experience streams live on YouTube, Facebook and local TV every single December, yet over 500,000 people still willingly squeeze into Tafawa Balewa Square to stand on their feet till 6:00 AM. Clearly, a live stream doesn’t kill physical attendance, some Nigerians just love a good gathering and some love their peace and comfort so livestream might actually work.

The Reality Check: Church vs. Commercials

While The Experience comparison is clever, the underlying business models are night and day:

  • The Experience is free to attend, funded by church budgets and corporate sponsors. They aren’t trying to recoup a $200 ticket price.
  • A Commercial Tour is heavily reliant on promoter backing, venue exclusivity contracts and ticket revenue. A promoter paying top dollar for an arena in London or Atlanta will have a small breakdown if you tell them the exact same show is streaming live online for $5.

Then there is the issue of piracy. Blocking screen recording sounds great in theory does it actually work on there app? something Davido should find out.

Why the Core Question Still Matters

Even if the tech logistics are tricky, the G.U Abraham’s frustration points to a real issue: as Afrobeats scales globally, filling massive arenas in Europe and North America, the audience that built the movement from day one is increasingly priced out or geographically sidelined.

David Adeleke has built his entire career on being a man of the people (“A Good Time”, “Timeless”, “5ive”). While flipping a livestream switch mid-tour isn’t as simple as opening IG Live on an iPhone, finding a way to democratize access for the home audience isn’t just a nice gesture, it’s smart fan retention.

Give us the live stream, OBO. Even if it’s just one night. We’ll even pay for the data.
